Mind Garden Series

In the early stages of the pandemic, I felt drained by the constant uncertainty and adversity surrounding us. As the world slowed to a halt, I found myself seeking refuge in nature by taking walks, tending a garden, and spending quiet moments outdoors. I wasn’t alone in that instinct; many people turned to the natural world as a way to escape the turmoil and reconnect with something grounding. Stepping away from our screens and the relentless pace of modern life allowed us to slow down, breathe, and remember a connection we had neglected.

During this time, I became drawn to the concept of Eutierria, a state of deep unity with nature, where the boundaries between self and environment dissolve. In this state, the anxieties of daily life fall away, replaced by a calm that comes from being fully immersed in the sights, sounds, and sensations of the natural world.

This idea sparked a new branch of my work that I call “mind gardens.” These pieces explore the metaphor of the mind as a garden where thoughts grow and take shape like living plants. Some flourish into lush bouquets of flowers, vibrant and full of life. Others, shaped by negative or intrusive thoughts, become tangled with thorns and weeds. Through these works, I reflect on how our inner landscapes shift, bloom, and sometimes overgrow, mirroring the emotional states we carry within us.
